Meet Dr Nicklas Howden

Dr Nicklas Howden is a warm and approachable Cardiologist passionate about preventative heart care and advanced cardiac imaging.

Dr Nicklas Howden is a local cardiologist with a warm, down-to-earth and expert approach to heart care. He completed his medical degree at the University of Sydney in 2015, before undertaking specialist physician training at Royal North Shore Hospital. He then returned to the Central Coast to complete his Cardiology training at Gosford and Wyong Hospitals, where he developed strong ties to the local community he now serves.
With a passion for advanced cardiac imaging, Dr Howden pursued further fellowship training at Royal North Shore Hospital. He is highly skilled in CT Coronary Angiography (CTCA), Cardiac MRI, and structural echocardiography — offering his patients precise, modern diagnostics delivered with a personal touch.
Preventative cardiology is at the heart of Dr Howden’s work. He is dedicated to helping patients reduce their risk of heart disease through early detection and accurate risk assessment, supported by ongoing research at the University of Sydney’s Kolling Institute.
Dr Howden holds admitting rights at Gosford, Wyong, and Gosford Private Hospitals, and is committed to providing seamless care across both public and private settings.
Known for his easygoing nature, clear communication style, and love of dogs, Dr Howden is passionate about making every patient feel comfortable, heard, and confident about their heart health.

Dr Nicholas Kerr is a highly trained Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist, dedicated to providing expert care for patients with heart rhythm disorders.

Dr Nicholas Kerr is a highly trained Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist with a special interest in diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disorders.
Known for his thoughtful and attentive approach, Dr Kerr is dedicated to providing patients with the highest standard of care in a clear and supportive way.
Dr Kerr graduated from the University of Sydney with Honours in Medicine and was awarded the University Medal in Physiology. He went on to complete a PhD at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute and the University of New South Wales, supported by a National Health and Medical Research Council scholarship. His research explored innovative techniques using stem cell-derived heart muscle cells to better understand inherited arrhythmia conditions.
Following his specialist cardiology training at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, Dr Kerr pursued advanced sub-specialty fellowships in cardiac electrophysiology at both St Vincent’s Hospital and the Libin Cardiovascular Institute at the University of Calgary, Canada. He was subsequently awarded a Diploma in Adult Cardiac Electrophysiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Dr Kerr provides patient care across both public and private settings, with admitting rights at Gosford and Wyong Public Hospitals, as well as St Vincent’s Hospital, The Mater Hospital, and North Gosford Private Hospital.
He is passionate about combining the latest scientific advancements with compassionate, patient-centred care.

Meet Dr Michael Parkinson
Interventional Cardiologist
Dr Parkinson is an interventional cardiologist with international experience and a strong focus on personalised, preventative heart care.

After many years serving patients in Gosford,
we are pleased to welcome Dr Parkinson to Platinum Cardiology.
Dr Michael Parkinson Background
Dr Parkinson is a consultant interventional cardiologist who specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease. Raised in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, he brings both local insight and international experience to his practice.
He completed a Bachelor of Science (Physics) and his medical degree at the University of Sydney, followed by physician training at Royal North Shore Hospital. His cardiology training was undertaken across the Central Coast and Northern Sydney health networks, where he attained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

Dr Parkinson completed advanced interventional cardiology training at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, focusing on the treatment of coronary disease, including stenting procedures. He was subsequently awarded a CSANZ Scholarship to undertake a UK interventional fellowship at Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester, one of the busiest centres for coronary intervention in the United Kingdom.

With a strong interest in prevention, Dr Parkinson also holds a postgraduate Master of Medicine in Metabolic Health. This underpins his patient-centred approach, where treatment is individualised and focused not only on managing heart disease, but on reducing future risk.

Patients value his thoughtful, collaborative style and clear explanations. He has contributed to cardiac research through publications and presentations at national and international conferences.
​
Outside of medicine, Dr Parkinson enjoys playing tennis with his wife and spending time outdoors around Northern Sydney and the Central Coast.
